LAURA SHAW

YOUR WEDDING

I have the best couples. They have allowed me to be part of their day, they’ve brought me along into their most cherished moments, allowing me to know them in order to really document them, to know their story, to know she’s not just walking down the aisle with her mum, she’s walking with her because it’s been months since she lost her dad. The hug between her and her maid of honour is a hug after a lifetime of friendship. To take your grandparents aside and create a portrait of them, something your family doesn’t have.

Finding a quiet spot for you to take a few moments after your ceremony and capturing the emotion when you celebrate finally being married! All the way through when things get wild AF on the dance floor getting your best friends and all the crazy stuff that goes down late into the night. If you see me standing on a chair for your dance floor, you know it's a GOOD dance floor! I know you have a lot of choices in choosing a photographer and I want you to know shooting your wedding is an honour to be a part of and I’m grateful to be the one to document an incredible day for you.

MY GOAL for your wedding day

I want you to enjoy my presence, I want you to feel supported. I want to help you have the best day imaginable.

Many people don’t realise the impact the photographer has, on not only your wedding day, but how you feel, the energy present while we shoot and the confidence you feel in yourself.

I hope you feel confident in knowing that I will shoot the shit out of your wedding, but you’re also hiring someone to help educate you, prepare you, give you insight and bring a tonne of energy to your day. For me, it’s not all about the end result, it’s your experience during the process.

I have been a bride myself, I know all the emotions and hopes that go into the responsibility that your photographer holds, and that isn’t something I undertake lightly. It’s really important to me that we feel a real and personal connection because when that happens, you relax and that comes through the image. The reason why my couples look so relaxed is not by chance. I spend time getting to know you first, finding out about your relationship, how you met, and what attracted you to each other. These details are important to me.

When you’re totally comfortable with me taking your photos, it allows those candid moments to come out. I take a lot of pride in my part – giving direction when I need to, or sensing when to allow space, watching, reacting, ready to make you laugh, and allowing you to focus on your day. Thankfully, I don't take myself very seriously and it's easy to laugh at me. I won't take it personally.

This is why our connection is so important – I want you to feel calm, happy and present in your photos and enjoy having them taken, so that when you look back at your photos, you feel like yourself.

I never want to be seen as a supplier, but rather the extra bridesmaid you didn’t ask for, but actually really needed! I have spare hair grips in my bag, I'll carry your lip balm, and hold your dress when your bridesmaids are busy. “have you had a glass of water/prosecco yet today?” (Delete as appropriate!) I take on a limited number of weddings per month so that I can make sure I’m motivated creatively for you. I do that so I can spend the time it takes to edit every image myself and put my heart into your wedding. When you hire me, you get me in the entire process - emails, shooting, editing, delivery.

This isn’t about money, or shooting so many weddings a year, it’s about a connection and capturing moments, the aura and feel of your day. I want you to focus on each other, tap into the heart of your relationship together and let me photograph what I see there.

"LAURA WAS THE CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL AND OVERALL AN AMAZING HUMAN BEING WITH WHOM WE WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SPEND MORE TIME".

Frequently Asked Questions

Who ARE your clients?

My clients are people who want to enjoy the process, not just the end result.

Fun loving, direction takers, willing to learn, willing to laugh. Happy to try, happy to go with the flow.

Willing to get to know me as I get to know you. People with a sense of humour, are down to earth, enjoy a little sarcasm and can tolerate the worst dad jokes of your life. I will make you smile!

Then, when we're friends, you relax and be who you really are. For that is what I truly want. To see the real you.

Do YOU travel?

Hell yes! I love to travel. Travelling to new lands whets my appetite and fires my soul!

Generally speaking I would need a flight, accommodation for 2 nights and car hire to transport my gear. But this is all down to your specific location. Shoot me a message and we can chat all about it.

What if I feel really awkward having my pics taken?

I get it. I am the ultimate awkward smiler. The second I get nervous with a phone or camera pointed at me, my shoulders go up to my ears and I literally show all my teeth.

It's terrifying.

So I have a PDF guide to help you. You can scroll to the bottom of this page and enter your email address to download a copy.

On the day, I'm pretty sure once you're dressed and ready the smiles will flow easily, but I have lots of tricks up my sleeves to help relax you and get those killer images that you will love!

Wedding Testimonial
When do you deliver the wedding images?

I love to delight you with some previews the day after your wedding. I expect everyone to be just as impatient as me.

I remember feeling a little sad the day after my wedding, after all the build up I was bummed it was over, so if this is you, having some beautiful images may help to cheer you up. The rest of the images are delivered within 4 weeks.

This can be up to 6 weeks during the busier wedding season. But don't worry I am super impatient by nature and will not want to leave you waiting.

Do you have insurance?

Absolutely, I have Public Liability insurance and can provide documentation should your venue require it.

"Laura was not only capturing the amazing morning, she was also on hand to help me with whatever I needed and this carried on throughout the whole day right until the evening".
